General practice Supervisor Liaison Officers Network

The General Practice Supervisor Liaison Officers (GPSLOs) provide local support for the GP Supervisors within their consortia. The SLO provides supervisors with a voice and provides contact between the management of IGPE and the supervisors. He also represents the local supervisors in the national forum. This representation is vital if the voice of local grass root supervisors is to be heard.

All RTPs/consortium have had Supervisor Liaison Officer from early in their development. It is recommended that the NGPSA and the SLO are the same supervisor. This has happened in all RTPs. The SLO of IGPE is John Stanford and he is available for contact by email or by phone on 02 9825 3555(work).

The GPSLO Network provides direct support for the GPSLOs nationally. Supervisor representatives have been meeting since consortiums were formed but the Network was officially formed in March 2003 following a national meeting of GPSLOs in Melbourne. GPET funds the network, providing for secretarial support, a list server, teleconferences and meetings. The GPSLO Network acts as a forum for SLO issues and has regular national meetings.
