Dr Saw Hooi Toh
Senior Lecturer
Dr Hooi Toh joined IGPE in 2003. Previous to that she had been a medical educator with the RACGP Training Program based in North Ryde. She had been in that position since 1998.
Hooi comes with a wealth of general practice experience, having been a principal of her surgery for nine years prior to immigrating to Australia in 1990. She passed the AMC examinations and subsequently joined the RACGP Training Program. While in the training program, she held the position of RLO and then became a medical educator.
She is also interested in issues related to overseas trained doctors and has been involved in bridging courses and is an examiner for the AMC examinations.
Her aim in teaching general practice is to pass on her own experience that general practice is still a worthwhile and interesting career.(despite the gloom and doom in the popular press about GPs).
